Tobacco Cessation Program
The Tobacco Prevention Program is a five-year strategic plan developed in partnership with the Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS) to decrease tobacco-related disparities among populations disproportionately impacted by tobacco use in Maricopa County, with emphasis on culturally responsive practices and sustained community involvement. The program aligns with the ADHS’ Tobacco Control Program Five-Year Strategic Plan 2022–2026.

Our Goals

Decrease tobacco-related disparities among populations disproportionately impacted by tobacco use in Maricopa County.

Prevent initiation of tobacco use, including emerging products and Electronic Vaping Products, among youth and young adults.

Promote quitting among adults and youth.

Decrease exposure, educate, and protect the public from Secondhand Smoking and Electronic Vaping Product emissions.

Monitor and address new and emerging tobacco products and industry tactics.
The Tobacco Prevention Program the newest addition to the Healthy Living Program, with focus on education and management of chronic diseases. The Tobacco Prevention Program is will be a valuable contributor to the fight against the tobacco/vaping epidemic in youth and adult populations disproportionately affected in Maricopa County. It will also help reduce the risk of chronic diseases linked to tobacco, such as diabetes, respiratory and cardiovascular diseases, different types of cancer, reduce maternal and child morbidity and mortality, the effects of secondhand and thirdhand smoking, and improve community health in the long run.
